Our Kitchen

Indian food the way it was meant to be made

Indian Garden Nr1 is not a chain. It is a kitchen. Founded by a chef with over 20 years of experience in Indian cuisine, every dish we serve is made from raw ingredients — no frozen bases, no pre-mixed spice packets, no shortcuts of any kind. Our spices are ground by hand each morning. Our bread is baked in a genuine clay oven (tandoor) at 450°C. Our vegetables are purchased fresh at the start of every day. Our sauces are cooked from scratch — every single service. This takes longer. You taste the difference.

From the Kitchen

Dishes worth travelling for

A short selection from our menu — each one made from scratch, every day.

Garlic Naan from the Clay Oven

Pressed against our 450°C clay oven walls, baked in under 90 seconds, then brushed with melted butter and fresh garlic. The bread you remember long after the meal is over. Order extra. Everyone does.

Palak Paneer

Fresh homemade cheese — pressed in our kitchen every morning — simmered in a sauce of blended spinach, roasted garlic and ginger. Mild, rich and naturally gluten-free. One of India's most beloved vegetarian dishes, made the way it deserves to be.

The Clay Oven

What makes our bread taste like nothing else in Stockholm?

A tandoor, or clay oven, is a cylindrical oven made of clay that reaches temperatures between 400 and 500°C (750–930°F). Coal or wood burns at the base, creating intense, even heat.Bread is pressed directly against the oven walls and baked in under 90 seconds. Meat andvegetables are grilled on skewers lowered from above. The technique is over 5,000 years old.
